Question of the Week – July 25

The Jewish feast of the Passover was near, and the large crowds reclined, about five thousand in number. Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were present. Our priests, fulfill this scripture passage at every Mass, during the Consecration of the Eucharist. Instead of performing the miracle of multiplying the loaves of bread and fish, the miracle is even greater! He multiplies Himself; giving Himself in the form of bread and wine for all ages. We are the crowds that recline to listen and follow; it is Jesus who feeds us. Let’s not take this miracle in our celebration for granted. Instead, let us see the miracle of the five thousand with faith, where we are partakers at the great feast of Heaven on earth. Christ truly present in body, blood, soul, and divinity, and given to us.

Adults: Take a few moments to contemplate this great mystery before receiving at the celebration of Mass.

Children: Can you sit really quietly? Can you feel Jesus in your heart?
