Christmas Message 2016

To my Church Family of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament:

“Jesus is with us!” This is what we need to hear and to know. This is what our children need to hear and to know. Jesus is not only the baby born in the manger more than 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem. He is the Son of God born as one of us to free us from the slavery of sins; to fight for our righteousness; to fight for justice; to fight for peace; to fight for freedom; to fight for love; to die for us. This gives meaning to our earthly existence and makes us hope for a better future. But the future starts now.

“Jesus is with us!” This is what everyone must know and understand. In the midst of trials, betrayals, struggles and dreams for a better future, Jesus, who was born in the manger, is with us. His offer of salvation gives hope to us all.

The Advent Candles we have lit the four weeks of Advent is the light we long for in the person of Jesus Christ born in the manger. His light gives us warmth and strengthens us in the midst of trials and sorrows and even joys that we have on our journey of faith.

As a Church family, our journey continues on. We are thankful that Jesus is with us in that journey. We are thankful that we are all together, strengthening and encouraging each other, in this journey of faith.

This Christmas let us bow again before HIM, happy and confident that he will turn all things for our good and His glory.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Archbishop Charles J Chaput writes: “What begins in the stable ends in our salvation. That’s why we celebrate Christmas, and it’s the best and only reason the human hearts needs.”

May your celebration of Christmas bring you all the Blessings you need for the New Year.
