Question of the Week – November 4

When asked which of the commandments is the greatest, Jesus proclaims that there are two: to love God above things and our neighbors as ourselves. in His view, these are quite inseparable; one cannot be kept without the other. We cannot say we love God and then refuse to love our neighbor. Jesus makes two other refinements. he extends the meaning of “neighbor” to include every single person and not just the people of one’s own race, religion or family. We would do well to listen and follow both of these commandments. While they are certainly not easy, following both of these commandments can lead to a freedom on this earth and an eternity in heaven with our Father.

Adults: What people in your world are toughest to love and what can you do to change that?

Children: How can you show love to people you don’t like?
